Recovery Checkpoint: Three Months

With Christmas and the end of the year quickly approaching, I'm reflecting on the past three months on my journey of #gritandgrace. I started driving again December 1 and I can't express how grateful I felt to regain some independence. I went ten weeks without driving - probably the longest stretch ever since obtaining my license two decades ago.

I've completed twelve sessions of physical therapy and though I hoped/planned to stop before 2020 arrived, my PT has encouraged me to continue going to therapy in the new year if I hope to return to full activity. As a guy who thrives on fitness and being active, I don't want this injury to prevent me from running and being as active as I was. So I'll keep PT up and take it one month at a time. The hope is be back to running by spring time. So maybe three more months?

The ankle remains stiff and sore but has stopped swelling for the most part. I ended up working the past two weekends at the toy store and I was nervous 5-6 hours a day on my feet would be a nightmare for my ankle. It didn't feel amazing. But it wasn't the worst. So I'm thankful for that and for the extra money that comes in handy during this season of gift buying.

I'm mindful that the best gift this holiday is my health. And continued healing.
