Easter joy.
Easter Sunday. So much joy. I went to church this morning and couldn't help but find myself reflecting the entire service on life lately and how much happiness I feel. It's been a great last couple weeks and the GORGEOUS weather has only made it that much better. I've taken advantage of every opportunity to be outside. From running to biking to even walking to work, I'm loving the sunshine and cooler temperatures. And I've been craving it. Even the mosquitos have stayed away more or less. Although when I tried to enjoy a glass of wine on fire escape last night (sounds lovely, eh?), I felt a couple nibbles. Bother.
April is one of the best times in NOLA for festivals and when one of my favorites hit town last weekend, French Quarter Fest, I spent the weekend wandering the streets of the French Quarter, strolling along the river, sinking my teeth into delicious festival food (crawfish bread is my weakness), and dancing to the sounds of jazz and blues. I rode the streetcar down Saturday and met up with a couple friends before spending most of the afternoon solo. I didn't mind it one bit. Sunday I biked down there and got to spend time with my sister and Ed.
I was looking forward to it being Easter weekend because it meant a four day reprieve from work (we were off Good Friday and tomorrow is a Day of Service in the city) and some solid family time. We hosted a crawfish boil at the house yesterday and I enjoyed dinner with my siblings and Dad Friday night and will again tonight with the family. Oh, and I had Easter king cake for the first time this weekend thanks to Daph. Be jealous. It's just like Mardi Gras king cake. Only replace the purple, green, and gold for pastels. Lots of pastels. I'm looking forward to jumping on my bike today and soaking up the remainder of this Easter weekend.
The next couple weeks will be quite busy. One of my dearest friends from college will be in town this week for a conference and I have eight work days left before I head out for LeaderShape at UF and a weekend at my uncle and aunt's lake house and return to an intern looking for direction, a student staff awaiting training, and a month of orientation!
Life is good. Cheers.
