Summer in the city.

John Goodman was at church today. Funny how ordinary it seemed. I was visiting a new church, St. Charles Ave Presbyterian Church, and as we sat down, Ed looked up and said, "Is that John Goodman??" Sure enough, he was standing toward the front of church like a regular Joe. Later, Ed and I were talking about how bizarre it was that we saw him and how we "could have made a big deal about it" but we're locals and locals don't make a big deal over celebrities being here. It's what locals do. We play it cool. Oh? John Goodman is here. Of course! Why wouldn't he be? Who are we kidding? We were jazzed to see him! But no snaps or Instagrams. We're locals. It's not our style.

I've been reminded lately that I have not blogged in over two weeks and when I finally went to look for myself, I was surprised to see that it's been close to three weeks by this point! Then again, June is my busiest month of the year and I spend more hours working than not working so I'm not that surprised that the blog has been dormant lately. Nonetheless, June has been the month of many things when I haven't been welcoming the class of 2018 to the Crescent City...

OITNB
The return of Orange is the New Black on Netflix. I've been taking the second season slowly (otherwise known as not binge watching it) and am loving it! Only three more episodes to go until I wait another 12 months for Season 3. Womp. But Big Brother is on the horizon!

Termites
Swarming. Eating wood. You name it, I've seen it/got it. We're tenting the House at the end of the month so for 48-60 hours, I'll have to vacate along with any unsealed food while we hopefully rid ourselves of them. And while the swarming hasn't been as bad as 2013, it's still pretty disgusting to find them all over the place.

Family
Whether it's celebrating Father's Day or hanging out with my grandmother, niece, brother and sister-in-law, or parents, I've soaked up a decent amount of family time this month! My niece is getting so big and her personality is OUT OF CONTROL. She's the life of the party!

#FollowYourNola
Oyster Festival. Cajun-Zydeco Festival. Freret Street Market. Elizabeth's for brunch. A day in the French Quarter. Frenchmen Art Market. Bike rides. Happy Hours. It's hot out but it hasn't stopped me from taking advantage of the downtime from work to enjoy the city. I continue to be in awe of this magical place I call home.

A relationship
Whether it's been cooking meals together, catching the new X-Men movie (loved it!), exploring the city, or just staying in for a relaxing evening, Ed and I have been back together for about two months now and I am happy. I'm grateful to have someone to share life with and I'm hopeful for the future we are both committed to building together.

Yes indeed it is shaping up to be a great summer!

Cheers.
