Blue Suede Memphis
I'm coming off a Memphis high after spending the weekend there celebrating the wedding of a good friend, reuniting with my former CBU coworkers who have become not only friends but family, celebrating the birthday of another friend, and catching up with my best friend and his girlfriend. Phew! Quite a weekend, eh?
Friday night I rolled into town and after enjoying an amazing drink courtesy of Drinkmaster Dan, we ventured down to Bardog to join Laine and company in celebrating her 27th! Riding the trolley, getting to see my college roommate, and capping off the night with a Soul Burger laid the foundation for a memorable weekend.

Can we say delicious!?
Me and the birthday girl!
Saturday I was treated to Cafe 407's homemade blueberry muffins (bluebes for short) and caught up with Dan and Sallie before heading out to meet up with my former CBU coworkers (the WHODS) and spend time with Ms. Jo, one of our former coworkers who retired this past year and recently lost her husband after close to 45 years of marriage. It was wonderful to see her as well as begin the laugh-til-your-side-hurts festivities that lasted all evening at the wedding of our friend Melissa at the Botanical Gardens.
Red, Yellow, Ms. Jo, Blue, and Orange (missed you Green!)
The wedding was beautiful, the weather perfect with a slight breeze (which proved to be clutch since the ceremony was outside) and the reception just what the doctored ordered with catering by Central BBQ and STRAWBERRY CAKE (a close favorite to carrot!). And Melissa couldn't have looked more gorgeous and happy. I didn't expect any less.
Wrapped up the visit this morning with brunch at Cockadoos downtown with Laine, Dan, and Sallie. Pretty cool ambiance and though the food was decent breakfast food, don't think it's a MUST SEE for any first time Memphians. Couldn't have asked for a better weekend or better hosts.
The hosts!
Ah, Memphis. You've always been good to me. Though I sadly didn't get to see everyone I would have liked to see, that just means a return visit needs to be planned. I don't have a problem with that.
Cheers.
