Weekend Update.

The weekends never seem long enough. Always too much to do and come Sunday night, I usually find myself scratching my head wondering where all the time went and how to squeeze out some extra time before Monday morning rolls around, a full week of work staring me in the face. Yet this past weekend, all felt right with the world. The weekend felt like a weekend! Such a novel concept. How did I spend it?

Friday, I went to Happy Hour at Phillips with a few friends before ordering Reginelli's for delivery and having a low key evening in. With the rain front hitting town early Saturday morning, I headed off to RECreate unsure of how we'd spend the morning without the option of going outdoors. Saturday's volunteering was probably my least favorite to date as the kids were BOUNCING off the walls, pushing and shoving each other, and incapable of being still. We put on a movie for them, the animated film Epic (think Fern Gully with a bit of Avatar tossed in), and fed them but by noon, I was more than ready to get out of there! Saturday afternoon I finished my dining room project, read the rest of Gone Girl, and had a great workout! Saturday night I went over to Ed's for dinner and we met up with a few folks at Publiq House for drinks.

A friend came over Sunday morning for brunch and we watched the first half of the Saints game before I spent the afternoon napping and resting. And last night? The Emmy's! My favorites of the night included the skit with the past Emmy hosts and Kevin Spacey, Merritt Wever's speech acceptance of the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a comedy series (I gotta go...bye!), Carrie Preston and Dan Bucatinsky winning Emmy's for their guest roles in The Good Wife and Scandal respectively, Edie Falco's heartwarming tribute to James Gandolfini, and the dance for the Best Choreography award. And what better way to end the weekend than with some froyo at YogurtLand? YUM!

I'm looking forward to a great week ahead! My sister is in town visiting for the week, a couple lunches and dinners sprinkled throughout the week to catch up with friends, and a weekend on the horizon with some family time and the celebration of a birthday. Cannot wait!

Cheers.
