Adventures in the French Quarter.
Give me a gorgeous day with no obligations and you'll likely find me hopping on the next streetcar. Destination: The French Quarter. I'll admit I'm not a huge Quarter fan at night. I just don't always feel the safest wandering around in the dark down there. But during the day? Game on. Ed and I had been talking about wanting to spend an afternoon getting "lost in the Quarter" for a few weeks now and with the weather unbeatable on Saturday, we set out for our adventure.
Overall, we think we logged somewhere between two and three miles walking up and down the streets of the quarter. From the shops on Royal to Jackson Square to the French Market and a few things in between, we had a really solid afternoon. Great music filled the streets and we took a couple breaks to enjoy some beverages along the way. And I think I have a few Christmas ideas for gifts!
St. Louis Cathedral
I normally loathe selfies...
We grabbed dinner at Royal House with one of my dearest friends, Betsy, who was in town for a conference before heading back uptown. Always love it when friends from different chapters in my life find themselves in the city. And I can never resist an oyster poboy. Delicious!
The rest of the weekend was just as great. Cowbell and Rock 'n' Bowl Friday night with a few friends and a productive Sunday checking out a new (to me) Episcopal church on my quest to find a worship community here in town, a run through Audubon Park, 12 Years a Slave with my mom, dinner with my parents, and a Christmas ale at Buddha Belly with Ed and Taylor to cheer on the Saints.
Cheers.
