The Story of My Life...Lately.

Guilty pleasure: One Direction's Story of My Life. If you forget for a moment that it's sung by a boy band (or if you embrace the boy band phenomenon), the song is actually pretty decent. And it's a great way to frame this blog post. So what's been up lately in the world according to me? Here's the story of my life...lately.

I've been cheering on the SAINTS the past couple weeks at a local bar called the Buddha Belly. If you're a local, you're probably yelling right now, BRAD! LOOK AT YOUR LIFE! And to an extent, I agree with you. The local bar on Magazine Street doesn't have the best seating, the best TVs, or the best...anything? But they have laundry! So it allows your boyfriend to knock out some clothes while you're yelling WHO DAT! And they have Abita Christmas Ale for $3 a pint. And the owner/bartender/manager? always cooks a heaping pot of something for whoever is there during halftime. On the house! It could be stew, etouffee and fried chicken, chili, you never quite know. But how amazing! I'll admit the crowd of regulars are a who's who of interesting characters but there's just something about it that draws me back. I've watched the last 3 games there and chances are I'll finish out the season there.

When I haven't been cheering on the Saints, I've been taking full advantage of the weekends and have been bouncing all over the place. Last weekend we spent Friday night in the Quarter and Saturday night at my parents house celebrating my Dad's 64th birthday! This past Friday night, Ed and I cashed in two free vouchers for the dinner/jazz cruise on the Steamboat Natchez. While the weather was a bit chilly and some intense fog shortened the two-hour cruise, we had a great night! We also checked out the new, 2-story H&M store downtown. Looking forward to doing some damage there in the near future!

And today? I begin my new(ish) seasonal, part-time job by returning to my first place of real life employment when I was a teen: Le Jouet! I'm going back to the toy store to help out a few hours a week through Christmas. I figured since I wasn't going to be traveling for the holidays and work was slow right now, it'd be a great way to build up some extra cash heading into the holidays. Not sure if I'll be wrapping gifts, stocking shelves, or ringing up customers but I'll always have a special place in my heart for the locally owned store that kept me busy throughout high school and I'm looking forward to helping out. Even if it means I have to miss out on Po-Boy Festival today on Oak Street (and that pains me...)

Cheers.
