Weekendgrams.

I forget (forgot?) how busy spring can be in the land of student affairs. Everything seems to be amped up and the weeks tend to fly by without much notice because you're busy recruiting, selecting, and training over 100 student staff members or you're sitting in on interviews for student leadership awards or you're trying to pull together and edit your department publications or you're giving the same "what comes next" presentation at every admitted student preview day. Don't worry, there's only three to four of those per week. If it sounds like I'm complaining, I'm not. I enjoy jumping from one project to the next and I love the days when I don't look at the clock until it's almost 5:00 and I feel a sense of accomplishment for the day. But it has kept me from doing much blogging.

When I haven't been working, I've been soaking up time with my sister who is back in town for a couple weeks, hitting the gym pretty hard, and catching up on TV. And I must say, all the deaths recently on some of my favorite shows, Scandal, The Good Wife, The Walking Dead have been difficult to digest! Especially on The Good Wife. Rough!

I've also been using my Facebook-free evenings and weekends to focus on the present and life around me: my niece's first birthday party in Baton Rouge last weekend, a 5-mile run around the lake at LSU, and a wonderful weekend visit with Kari and her boyfriend Ryan who are in town from Seattle for the week. Here's a recap of life lately in photos...

Victoria's first birthday party! She had her own cake.
City Park. Beautiful! Had a great time at Hogs for the Cause listening to The Hold Steady.
LOVE this girl! So happy she and her boyfriend came to visit from Seattle.
Delicious Bloody Mary (and brunch) at Gott Gourmet.
An evening on the Northshore having dinner with my grandparents. So calm and peaceful!
Cheers.
