City Museum

Last night we took the RA staff to City Museum. For those not familiar with the attraction in St. Louis, you might be wondering why we would want to take the entire 100+ staff to a museum. Reason: Because it's a freaking giant, awesome playground. With both indoor and outdoor attractions, the museum features everything from a 10 story slide to airplanes and school buses hoisted above the ground that you can crawl through after maneuvering your body through coils, plastic tunnels, and secret passageways.

By far, my least favorite adventure included crawling down a hole in THE GROUND and making my way through an underground tunnel that was BELOW the city museum main flow. For someone as claustrophobic as I am, I struggled to stay calm while realizing I was in this narrow passageway with hundreds of people walking above me. At one point, I FREAKED OUT and screamed at my friend that we had to turn around and go back but she wouldn't let me and kept pushing me through the tunnel. I survived but vowed not to return down that tunnel again.

The museum, though, is amazing. Definitely any kid's dream. I can only imagine going there with a group of friends as a small child and playing for HOURS and HOURS. It's unreal. As an adult, I found several of the tunnels and coils hard to navigate and at times, even wondered how I'd contort my body through the next opening. Many of the outdoor cages reminded me of Jurassic Park and I kept expecting a velociraptor to come charging after me!

All in all, it was a great evening and I think all of the RAs enjoyed themselves. Even Laurel, who unknowingly crawled through someone else's vomit in one of the dark tunnels. (Did you just throw up a little in your mouth? I did!)

Cheers.
