Weekend Recap
Having been out of the town the last two weekends and gone next weekend, I was looking forward to a weekend here at home. And this weekend did not disappoint!
Friday night, I had this intense craving for Chinese so I went down the street to Hon's Wok (NOTE: While I will probably order from them again, perhaps delivery is the way to go so I don't have to see the inside of that place, shudder!) and have some delicious General Tso's Chicken. I soon left campus and spent the remainder of the evening on my friend's screened in porch enjoying a hookah, great company, and some Whiskey and 7's. We were due for some major thunderstorms so as they rolled through, we nested on the porch listening to the rain and thunder and watching the lightning all around us. Such a relaxing and enjoyable evening.
My Saturday was CHOCK FULL of activities beginning with a trip to the Farmer's Market.
My friend suggested we try the one in Tower Grove Park which was A-OK with me as I'd never been to that one. Sadly, after a first failed attempt to find it and winding up at the Pagan Festival, we finally found it only to realize it was incredibly small and had almost no selection. So we darted across town to the much larger market in Soulard where I was able to pick up some blueberries, strawberries, grapefruit, and cherries. Yummy! My friend and her husband are on a cantaloupe kick so she purchased 5 of those, some blueberries, and watermelon.
After a successful morning out, I ventured out to the pool with another friend to spend the afternoon soaking up some sun and vegging out. The weather was slightly overcast but there was a nice breeze and it made being outside not only bearable but actually enjoyable.
Last night, I attended the STL Brewer's Heritage Festival with several friends which was the best life choice in a long time. I was initially turned off by the $35 cost of admission but since I had nothing else going on, I figured why not. The festival was held in Forest Park under giant white tents that reminded me of the big top in Water for Elephants. There were close to 20 breweries present and over 75 selections. The $35 gave you entrance into the tent and once there, you were free to drink until the festival ended.
Side Note: I did appreciate that if you were a designated driver, you could enter the festival for free. While you couldn't enjoy any of the beers, you could hang out and listen to the band without being annoyed you had to pay to not drink.
Upon our arrival, we were handed a glass and a passport/map listing out all the breweries and their selections for recording our adventures.

The place was PACKED but we had a lot of fun. The band was great and by the end of the evening, I had sampled over 15 different brews from 13 different breweries. Some of the festival home brews were my favorite while I didn't particularly care for some of the IPAs I sampled.
I'll wrap up the weekend today with a trip to the grocery store and the gym, 127 Hours which I've had sitting in its Netflix envelope for quite some time and some cleaning. All in all, a great weekend!
Cheers!
