Home sweet #NOLA
I couldn't be more thankful that my parents sponsored my trip to New Orleans this past weekend. It was (once again) exactly the time away I needed! Here's a recap of the weekend...
After an hour flight delay, I landed in NOLA Friday night around 9:45pm and was excited to see that my brother and his fiance had not gone out of town but were in town and picked me up. We came home connected with my parents and my aunt and uncle who were staying with us for the weekend from Orlando.
Saturday, we headed off to the Club to lay by the pool for a couple hours. With a bloody mary in hand, we soaked up the sun and caught up about my brother's potential new job offer and talked briefly about the wedding. We spent the remainder of the day across the lake for my grandfather's 86th birthday. There were over 40 relatives in attendance (HOLY ROMIGMOLE!) While everyone was not there, I think it's the closest we've come in years to having the entire clan together. We were missing one of my dad's six brothers and his wife, my sister, and one of my cousin's two children. But other than that, we all descended upon my grandparent's house and spent the afternoon/evening drinking, stuffing our faces, and catching up. The highlight was seeing a cousin I haven't seen in close to 10 years. She and I were connected at the hip growing up and I forgot how much fun we have together. LOVED seeing her, meeting her husband, and her two children.
We kicked off yesterday with my dad cooking up a huge breakfast. A trip to the mall, mass, and a couple movies on the couch rounded out the day. Last night I went to St. Joe's bar to catch up with two college friends I hadn't seen in a while. Love them!
So all in all, a wonderful weekend. I'm still in NOLA as I type this waiting to go to breakfast with my mom before heading to the airport. Hope you had a great first weekend in June!
Cheers.
