Romig Wedding Part II
So where were we...
The groom and I woke up Saturday morning a bit groggy and exhausted from getting in so late the night before and were shocked we had gorged on a plate full of spinach (yes, spinach) as our 4th meal several hours earlier. We found out the extended family was headed down to
We headed to the country club around 2pm to meet the groomsmen where my dad had prearranged for us to spend the afternoon in the "gentleman's lounge" eating, drinking, and lounging before donning our tuxes and hitting the church. #Winning. We were supposed to have photos taken at the club but the photographer never showed. #Losing. The club was kind enough to load up an ice chest full of beer for us on the bus ride over before we left for the church. #Winning, again. The next couple hours came and went as we had the mass and ceremony. Highlights included a bridesmaid almost busting it on the walk down the aisle, the priest slipping and sliding on the bride's veil and almost biting it while simultaneously almost showering the floor with the hosts (thank the Lord he caught himself!) and my brother tearing up when his bride to be walked down the aisle. It was incredibly sweet.
The reception afterward at the club could not have been more outofthisworldfreakingamazing. Here's what you need if you opt to create your own recipe for amazeballs: 3 parts bar, 1 part Bucktown All Stars (with massive drum), 1 part BBQ oysters, 1 part gorgeous weather with an outdoor seating area, and as many parts dancing, dancing, and more dancing as possible. I cannot wait to see the film and the professional pictures because they spent a large part of the night watching us on the dance floor. I even got my sweet 80+ year old grandmother to dance with me. She was a boogie machine!
The ending was fabulous including a
Sunday (the aftermath)
We hosted family and friends Sunday for brunch (grillades and grits-DIVINE, bloody marys, and mimosas) and kept the food and drink going all day. It was great to look at everyone's photos, recap the wedding day/night, and just enjoy everyone, including the bride's immediate family who came over. I didn't feel like I had a great chance to spend time with my mom's family who all live across the south so having them here and relaxing with them meant a lot.
By the end of Sunday night when the last family member had departed, my mom, dad, sister and I all looked at one another and collapsed with exhaustion. But I wouldn't have wanted it any other way...
Oh and some photos? Here's a small snippet!
