Weekend Recap: Odd Quad & The Rusty Kickers

Though the Emmy's are leaving a bit to be desired this evening, my weekend was definitely anything but lacking. And I am so wiped that I do not mind that the Emmy's are not rocking my world as I had hoped they would this year. But back to this weekend...

I stayed in Friday night watching Pariah as I previously blogged about so was anxious when I rose on Saturday to hit the ground running. And hit it I did. The weather was PERFECT so I threw open the windows, made a pot of coffee, turned up Pandora, and got to work on some curriculum that had been hanging over my head for weeks. I stopped to enjoy lunch with a guy I was meeting for the first time at Pho Grand down on S. Grand. Not gonna front: Vietnamese food just isn't my thing. But it's OK. I'm always up for trying new things and am glad I ventured out to meet someone new! I ran several errands Saturday afternoon before joining up with Luke, Evie, and Shrut to celebrate Evie's recent, new job, and cheer on the Dawgs. I was proud of myself for baking my first cake (I'm not a baker) and Evie loved the surprise! #winning.
Evie had originally requested the cake say, "Avoid the clap, Jimmy Dugan" from A League of Their Own but that seemed a bit too complicated for this novice. I capped off the evening by stopping by a friend's apartment for game night.

But by far, the highlight of the weekend was today's Sunday FUNday. I recently joined a Kickball League after some pressure from Luke and am grateful that I did. Though our team, The Rusty Kickers, are perhaps a bit toooo rusty, we try not to take ourselves too seriously and have fun. Which is a good attitude to have considering after two weeks of play, we are 0-4. However, after the game, we went to a nearby neighborhood bar and spent the remainder of the afternoon enjoying the weather, playing corn hole, watching football, and drinking beer. A Sunday for the books.

I'm not ready for work tomorrow but then again, I am looking forward to the Warrior Dash next weekend with Danielle! Oh and the Emmy's? I learned I need to stick with Modern Family and must add Homeland season 1 to my Netflix, pronto.

Cheers.
