Adventures in condo ownership and car flooding!
We Bought A...Zoo! No. we didn't. But if you still haven't seen that movie, it's a keeper. Cute film. Great for a rainy day like today. I did however purchase a condo! And it's been a whirlwind ever since. With the help of my family, I'm setting up some more semi-permanent roots by becoming a condo owner. And let me tell you that I feel like I could now teach a class after all the hoops I jumped through with realtors, inspectors, lenders, and the list goes on...
We closed on the condo April 15 and I've spent the last two weeks arranging the move of all my stuff from St. Louis, the purchase of a new couch and chair for the living room, painting of the entire condo, and the installation of cable and internet. It's beginning to feel a lot more like home! Though I have not yet officially moved in (hoping to by next weekend at the latest), I am excited to officially begin this next chapter.
So about the place...Located Uptown in the University area, the condo is right off St. Charles (I can see the streetcar running from my living room!) and is on the third floor in an old house that was converted into 9 units. While the walk up is a bit steep (3 flights of stairs! Ouch!), the views are incredible! The condo is filled with New Orleans charm, windows on every wall, and a brick fireplace and cypress wall to give it TONS of character. I cannot wait to decorate it.
More photos to come but for now, here's a few from the closing!

Excited much?
Not so exciting this past week? The EPIC rainstorm/tornadoes that rocked the city on Wednesday flooding campus...and my car. Poor Toyota! Second time this has happened! Luckily, no engine damage aside from a little moisture in the oil. Once the insurance company gives the all clear, the carpets will be replaced and hopefully she'll be good as new.
See my car in the upper right corner? Woof.
I spent a solid hour using only a solo cup to scoop out the water.
Sigh.
Annoying that it happened but I guess it could be worse. At least the car will live to see another day storm.
Cheers.
