Week Recap.

I started off the week back from my weekend getaway in St. Louis by participating in the annual Faculty/Staff Day of Service. Though my intentions weren't the purest (half day of service > full day of work in the office), I was looking forward to giving back to the city and getting to know some faculty and staff across campus. While our location, an old warehouse around the corner from the WWII Museum, ended up being a really cool site for a guy like me who loves films (both Benjamin Button and the new GI Joe were filmed there), our project left a lot to be desired. Our mission: Organize boxes as a local museum in town uses the facility as a storage unit until their new space is ready this fall. Not entirely sure how our efforts were improving or giving back to the city itself but whatever. I did the job with a smile on my face, snapped a few photos of the warehouse, and spent the afternoon soaking up some sun outdoors. The weather has been perfect this week.

The rest of the week came and went pretty quickly leading up to a SOLID weekend. Friday night I took my student staff bowling at Rock 'N Bowl (beat all 12 of them! Twice!) before meeting up with friends at a couple of local bars later that night. Though I did not volunteer Saturday morning as I had planned, I did spend the afternoon at the Freret Street Festival and enjoyed a late lunch at Santa Fe. Oh, and spent some time with my new niece!

I was wiped from the day so last night stayed in and watched The Perks of Being a Wallflower with my brother and sister-in-law. Good film but I definitely thought the book was better. And I'm glad I didn't spend the extra cash to catch it in theatres.

On tap for today? Furniture shopping for the new condo and helping my aunt make a couple dishes for a birthday party tonight honoring my cousin's husband. And a run if I can squeeze one in! A good weekend indeed!

Cheers.
