Life is good!
I am tuckered out. It's Friday afternoon circa 3:30 and since most of the office is out today (feels like somehow I missed the memo...), I am finding myself sitting here watching the clock patiently impatiently waiting for it to be 5 o'clock so I can bounce. No big Friday night plans for this guy. An early evening and dinner with the parents. After a long week, I'd rather do nothing else.
But it's been a SOLID week. I've been out and about the last three nights living up the city of New Orleans. Where have I been?
Tuesday evening
The Avenue Pub with Brian, Caleb, Katie, and her family for the Beer & Bourbon pairing event followed by a late dinner at Juan's on Magazine. I love Katie's family so it was wonderful getting to visit with them on the balcony overlooking St. Charles while we enjoyed some delicious brews and bourbons.
Wednesday evening
Weekly trivia night at Dat Dog on Magazine with the Red Feathers crew (Julia, Peter, Greg, and Jered). After finishing in first place last week and seeking a repeat win, our spirits (and egos) were soon deflated when we found ourselves struggling with just about every question. Tough week for trivia. Good thing the $30 bar tab from our win last week and the great food sustained us.
Thursday evening
I was elated to find out that a former student and now good friend was in town with a girl he is dating for his birthday and Tulane's graduation. They came by and checked out the new condo before we hit up Cure for some pre-dinner drinks and Wayfare for dinner, both on Freret. Loved seeing him and catching up on life! He was one of the first students I worked with in St. Louis back in 2010 and we've remained close since.
The weekend should be quite busy with RECreate wrapping up tomorrow (Field Day & BBQ), some errands at the mall, drinks tomorrow evening, and dinner Sunday with an old friend. And I made the commitment today to spend Memorial Day weekend at a cabin in Arkansas with several good friends from St. Louis, my pretty much only vacation before I have some down time in August. Looking forward to a weekend away relaxing!
Cheers.
