Vacation all I ever wanted.
Womp. Womp. That's probably the most accurate way I could describe my attitude and feelings this past weekend seeing my extended family post status updates on Facebook about the upcoming nuptials of my cousin Meg to her college boyfriend, JMO, at the beach. You see, the entire extended family, sans me, is headed to Pensacola Beach mid week to have a family reunion and celebrate Meg and JMO. But me? Nope. Working Orientation. Now don't get me wrong. I am REALLY enjoying my job and this month of Orientation has been great. But it's also been nonstop and I've been feeling the burn out from being at work almost every day and weekend since Memorial Day. And the thought of being at the beach with the family for a few days? Seemed glorious.
So I looked at my schedule. And I realized that though not ideal, if I could get my supervisor to agree, I could dash down to the beach Thursday evening after wrapping an Orientation, partake in the wedding/reception festivities on Friday, and be back on campus by noonish on Saturday for our final session. I didn't know how to approach my boss about it and I didn't want to put her on the spot so I sent her an emailing explaining my request and hoping she'd allow me to miss work Friday and Saturday morning. I figured what's the harm in asking? Worst case: It's a no. Lucky for me, the answer was a YES! And I am ecstatic. It may less than 48 hours but the ability to walk on the beach, catch a few rays, see the extended family, and celebrate my cousin? I consider it a win in my book.
Now just need to get to Thursday...Beach bound!
Cheers.
