I now pronounce you...
I got ordained. Online. By American Marriage Ministries. A few clicks and a notary and boom, I am licensed to perform weddings in the state in Orleans Parish. Marrying one of my best friends and her husband over Memorial Day Weekend was an incredible honor and an amazing tribute and testament to my friendship with the second half of the dymanic duo.
I took the role seriously. I met on two separate occasions with the bride and groom to talk about what they wanted in their ceremony, what they didn't, language they wished to see included or language they wanted to steer clear of (who gives this woman...) and then got to work. I asked them to select their readings and their vows and with the help of two friends who sent me scripts they used for past weddings, began building their 20-minute ceremony. I think my favorite part was writing my sermon? speech? message? to share with them midway through the ceremony.
It was a beautiful ceremony and I was touched by the number of guests who approached me to comment on what a great job I had done. Usually I'm only complimented on my dancing skills at weddings. That came later...
I wish my friends nothing but the best as they begin their new chapter as husband and wife. And couldn't be more thankful or grateful that I got to play such a special role in their celebration. Here's some of my favorite photos from their incredible photographer!
