SOLD!
I did a thing. My first sale! The entire experience felt very HGTV and House Hunters. My friends reached out and asked if I'd set up showings at three different houses. The first house we viewed, the Cozy Cottage, had all the character and charm you'd want in a house - a home with a story - with the feeling that it was ready for a new chapter. I personally loved it. The second home, the Mad Hatter House, honest to God felt like it was sloping. I got disoriented being inside it. And finally, the third house, the Expanded Shotgun, was fully renovated top to bottom and a gorgeous home, but the layout wasn't ideal and the price point didn't leave my clients feeling warm and fuzzy. That was it, three homes. And quickly the Cozy Cottage rose to the top of the list. We viewed the property a second time that next week and soon had an offer in. Six weeks later, my clients are the proud owners of an adorable house and I can't wait to watch them make it their home.
I learned so much through my first sale. I had previously told many people that my real estate coursework (both the 90-hours pre-licensure and the 50-hours post licensure) covered many things but how to actually DO real estate wasn't fully explained. With the help of a great broker and two amazing clients who gave me grace as their friend to not have all the answers up front and have to get back to them, I feel more confident in my skills as an agent and in my ability to successfully help a client buy (or sell) their home.
Because spoken goals hold you more accountable than unspoken goals, I will say that my goal in this first year was simply to recoup the costs of getting my license. CHECK. Anything else I do this year becomes lagniappe. I would love to have one more sale in 2018 so that's the goal in the next five-ish month. Looking to next year, I will say my goal is to complete three to four sales per year. That extra income will allow me to breathe a little more freely, put some money into my condo with various projects I'd like to knock out including some redecorating, pay down my mortgage note, AND hopefully give me some play money for a trip or two.
I'm proud of myself. I'm proud that I pursued this passion and it's coming to fruition. Excited to see where it takes me.
