God Bless America
Happy 4th of July! I always have trouble remembering if the 4th of July signifies the middle of summer or if by some miracle, we're still somehow pre-middle. I sure hope so.Been a great week and I was able to cross two things off my list of things I wanted to do this summer: swing dancing with Ms. Dancing Shoes and tubing. Dawn has been going swing dancing every Tuesday night since the summer began and has been asking me to go every week. I somehow managed to find an excuse every single week to not go. I don't know. It wasn't that I didn't want to swing dance or learn some new things (lessons at 930pm followed by open dance). It was more just having to put myself out of my comfort zone and go dance with all these people I've never met. I enjoyed the experience but it was definitely awkward and very junior prom-ish. I kept walking up to random girls and being like, "Hi. My name is Brad. Would you like to dance?" They'd giggle, say yes, and off we'd go to practice the basics. If I went again, I'd definitely want to bring an arsenal of girls I knew because I think I'd have a better time acting a fool with friends vs. strangers.
Yesterday, Sam and I ventured out to Buford/Sugar Hill, GA to go tubing with Up the River Outfitters. They were SLAMMED for the holiday and definitely were not prepared for the volume of people who came out. They also didn't do a very good job (scratch that, any job) of communicating with us what was going on. We waited at the outfitters for about an hour before we loaded a half-filled bus and took off (leaving so many people behind), were dropped at a drop-in point near the river with no tubes and left for another 45 minutes before someone finally came and brought us tubes. They never told us where to exit the river and only by the grace of God did we guess correctly and then we sat around waiting to leave. Up the River is definitely the definition of a cluster f. But despite all that, the Chatahoochee River was GORGEOUS, a freezing refreshing 32 degrees, and a GREAT way to spend the day just floating down it.On tap for the day: little bit of moving, Pool time, grilling out, and fireworks tonight. Looking forward to the day!
Cheers.
