MOVE FEST '09

I bought a ticket last year to MOVE FEST '08 and was not a fan. The ticket was ridiculously expensive (just under $900) and involved a lot of Tetris-playing and praying that my stuff would arrive in Athens on-time and dent free.

I hoped Move Fest '09 would prove to be less of a hassle as I was only moving about 4 miles away (as opposed to 450 miles) and had recruited a few good men (and one good woman) to help with the process.

The weekend began Friday with helping Steve move his furniture from his apartment into a temporary storage unit and move everything else into the HD (the apartment). Steve will be co-habitating with me in the HD thru the end of July and I'm happy to have someone to hang out with. Unfortunately, the move took a wee bit longer than we had anticipated (circa 10+ hours) and by the time Saturday morning rolled around, my body felt like I had been hit by a mack truck.

With the help of Atlanta's hottest married couple, we were able to load up the U-haul I rented in about an hour, unload it with Matt and Steve's help at the HD in only an hour and I had the U-haul back to the "Customer Service is not our Speciality" U-haul store in under 4 hours. SCORE. We celebrated with a victory lunch at Big City Bread.

The HD is slowly coming to life and I'm eager for Kevin to move in and add his remaining furniture to make the place feel more cozy. Pictures to come once things find a more permanent home as opposed to the middle of the dining room.

Move Fest concluded last night when Steve and I went over to Daph's to work some electrical magic and ended up helping her rearrange her living room and bedroom. Phew. I am BEAT.

I'm not running out the door to buy my ticket to Move Fest 2010 (which I'm sure will be equally exciting) anytime soon but I survived the weekend and am thankful for all the help. I couldn't have moved alone.

Have a great week! Cheers.
