Thangsiving Break.
I didn't get up at 3am to hit the stores with the other hyenas, err, people for the latest and greatest gadgets or the biggest and baddest sales. I didn't have it in me this year. I braved the storm last year to purchase a new TV and that experience alone was enough for me to stay in this year. Plus there's nothing out there that I "just HAD to HAVE."
We had a really nice Thanksgiving yesterday complete with the usuals: turkey, my grandmother's famous oyster dressing, sweet potatoes, mom's delicious pumpkin bread and spinach madeline, a cauliflower casserole, cranberries, and a scrumptious cake from Whole Foods among other things. And of course alcohol. It wouldn't be a N'awlins Thanksgiving without liquor. But it was a great evening with family and I only cringed 2-3 times when a comment was uttered that made my student affairs brain go bananas. But I kept the bananas to myself. It was Thanksgiving after all, peace on earth, all that jazz.
My time at home is quickly coming to an end and this year's break FLEW by compared to last year's. Could be that I came home a few days less this year than last year or that I spent a lot of my free time working on school stuff. But in any event, it's been great to be home and to see the family. During my time here I've hit up CC's, Radosta's and Semolina's, and grabbed drinks with Katie at St. Joe's and tonight, I'll spend some time with one of my oldest friends Amanda and eat some raw oysters with the family. No complaints.
Hitting the road tomorrow to return to the great state of Georgia, visit with Dan and his family, and prepare for the final two weeks of the fall semester.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and if you did leave the comfort of your home to hit the stores this morning, you steered clear of the lions, tigers, and bears...Oh my!
Cheers.
