Destination: Windy City. Operation: Job Placement.

And here we find ourselves in the month of March. Mother Nature decided a great way to kick off the month was bringing some snow to Athens thus marking the second consecutive year for snow, in Georgia, in MARCH. Weird.

I'm not quite sure where the time went or how we found ourselves here so soon... Tomorrow, I depart for Chicago, the windy city, to attend a job placement fair for student affairs folks looking for their next opportunity, or what I truly believe will be my next adventure. I'm flying out tomorrow midday with two of my good friends in the program to take Chi-town by storm. I've never been to Chicago (truth be told, the city has always had this scary, overwhelming feel to it) but am looking forward to visiting a new place.

My compadres and I are staying in downtown Chicago and when we're not bouncing back and forth between the Marriott where we are staying and the McCormick Center where placement is occurring or in interviews, I hope we can spend some time checking out the sights, sounds, and scents of the city! Bring on the deep dish pizza! If you have any Chicago highlights you feel I need to try and see/do during my time there, shoot me a suggestion and I'll add it to the list of potentials.

The conference wraps up Sunday and I'm lucky to be spending a couple extra days hanging out with a college friend catching up on life, watching the Oscars, and enjoying the beginning of my Spring Break.

I've printed out the various job descriptions, ensured I have extra resumes on that fancy resume paper, packed my favorite ties, and get to spend the afternoon and evening (thanks to the snow day) researching the various institutions I'm meeting with instead of being on campus in a staff training!

I have four interviews lined up in Chicago, one pending, and hopefully will be able to add another 1-2 to my schedule. The positions range in title, description, and pay, at institutions of various shapes and sizes, sprinkled across the country. Send some good vibes my way that these interviews go well and lead to some on-campus invitations and hopefully, a new adventure.

Cheers.

okay...you MUST stop in a garrett's popcorn while you're there. they're along the big streets (there's def a few downtown). get the mixed bag of cheese and caramel popcorn. it might sound gross, but the combo of the two is the BEST sweet/salty combination i have ever tasted in my entire life. no joke. it. is. incredible.
