Spring Work 2010

Has a nice ring to it eh? Forget exotic locations. Forget sandy beaches between your toes as the sun shines down on your tanning (or sunburning) body you've been getting ready for the past month by hitting the gym religiously. Forget coronas and limes. Forget shopping sprees. Spring Break 2010 does not exist.

Enter Spring Work 2010. Instead of sunny skies, we have rain. Going on 24 hours straight. No sandy beaches here. Just a carpet that's in need of a little vacuuming and some apartment furniture. Instead of Coronas, I'm sipping on some coffee. And plunging into work.

I'm not complaining. It's been quiet, relaxing, and I've been able to ENTER THE ZONE. I've knocked out a 16 page assessment report (Dr. Dean would be SO proud) for work, written a paper for one class, done some initial planning for a report due at the end of a month, and by week's end, will have met with my boss and begun work on my 10 page policy paper. The semester is winding now and it is my hope that the job search will soon pick up speed and I'll be invited to a few campuses to interview. If that happens, having some work behind me will definitely ease the stress of being gone and feeling the work pile on.

So I'm strategic planning in a way. Sam pointed out we graduate in less than 2 months. Less than 8 weeks before I close this chapter of graduate school, accept my diploma, and can add M.Ed. to the end of my name (but I don't plan on it). So even though Spring Work 2010 isn't as enticing or exciting as Spring Break could and should be, I'm making the most of it and staying focused. Graduation is right around the corner and hopefully, a new job adventure!

Cheers.
