5 years.
I returned to Memphis this past weekend for the big 5 year college reunion. In reality, it's been closer to 5.5 years since I left the gates of Rhodes College behind and said farewell to the Gothic stone architecture, the Lynx cats, and buttoned my big boy pants as the adult world slapped me in the face. The weekend proved to be just as amazing as I had hoped it would be. I stayed with my best friend downtown and while I didn't get to spend as much time with him and his girlfriend as I had hoped, it was great to see them and check out his new digs.
During the weekend, I dined at both Huey's and Central BBQ (two of my favorite Memphis places), hung out with my fellow classmates at two reunion parties at Celtic and on campus, connected with the Whods, and was able to reconnect with several friends who I haven't seen in quite some time. It was so great to see the Busters crew, the old townhouse gang, and always, Team U.
Being back in Memphis and driving down North Parkway made me really miss the city I called home for 7 years. People can say what they want about Memphis like it's "dirty", "crime ridden", or even "trashy", but at the end of the day, I fell in love with this city and with the people who made my 7 years there some of the best of my life. I may not live there anymore but I will forever be, Walking in Memphis.
Below are a couple photos from the weekend. The first is of Team U (+ Nelly - WT) at the alumni tent during the football game. (Is it pathetic I have no idea whether we beat or lost to Centre that day?) The second is of the townhouse gang at Huey's on Friday night.

Who knows whether I'll make it to the 10 year reunion in another 5 years but I'm so glad I was able to make it to this one!Cheers.
