Weekend Edition

This weekend can best be summed up through my favorite two "f" words: friends and food. It's been a great weekend with nothing major on tap to catch up with folks and visit some new and old (to me) restaurants in the city.

My food visits for the weekend:

Basil Spice on South Grand Friday night with Brigid and Danielle. I l-o-v-e Thai food and am always looking for new Thai places to give my usual King and I pad Thai some competition. And the pork pad Thai at Basil Spice did not disappoint!

Sub Zero in the CWE Saturday night with Janelle and Kelly. Sub Zero is quickly becoming one of my favorite places in the city though I'm now understanding a desire to eat there on the weekends requires a reservation to avoid a 45-minute wait. Check. I had the California Chicken sandwich last night (decent but not NEARLY as good as the burgers and sushi) and the ever-amazing sweet potato fries.

Rooster Sunday morning with Shruti, Evie, and Saida downtown. My favorite brunch spot in the city. And with Rooster's new expansion, seating isn't as big an issue anymore. Although I was still surprised to find the wait to be 30-45 minutes with a handful of open tables. I'm proud of myself for trying something new, the Breakfast Crepe with eggs, cheddar, potatoes, and homemade salsa and as always, was not disappointed. Love you Rooster.

I finished up my Christmas shopping this weekend, did some laundry and cleaning, and wrapped up my U101 grading. All in all, I'm ready to tackle the short week ahead before departing for my draining and offensive 10-hour drive to New Orleans on Friday. Disgusting. I'll be ever so grateful when I pull up to Hollywood Dr.

Cheers!
