A Kariful weekend.

This is one of my all-time favorite photos. Mainly because you have to know Kari and I (and our relationship) to understand how this photo is worth 1000 words and accurately describes our friendship. The back story is that we were wearing matching clothes and found it to be the most hysterical thing ever that we had to take a photo. Of course, you can imagine my sheer excitement (like Disney World too-excited-to-sleep excitement) when she booked a trip to see me ending our two+ year separation. The last time we saw each other was back in January 2010 when I took advantage of the 3-day MLK weekend to visit her in Seattle.

It turned out to be an amazing weekend (I had no doubt) and I cherished every minute of her being here. So our weekend highlights?
  • Friday night: dinner at Tortillaria, a friend's back to college birthday bash, and the Big Bang dueling piano bar where we met up with a friend/old coworker in town.
  • Saturday morning ROOMIE breakfast. Kari and I used to make breakfast every weekend back in Athens with coffee, eggs, biscuits, and bacon and I wasn't going to let her come visit me without us cooking breakfast.
  • A trip down to the Delmar Loop Saturday afternoon to visit the shops and a late lunch/early happy hour at Broadway Oyster Bar.
  • Dinner Saturday night at Schlafly Tap Room with two of her BG friends and Kelly.
  • Sunday brunch with Kelly at Half&Half. It was my first time visiting this highly-rated and "adorable" (as Kari proclaimed) breakfast spot and it didn't disappoint. The blueberry pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and cinnamon doughnuts were DELICIOUS.
  • A visit to Clayton and Kaldi Coffee House for an afternoon Vanilla Chai Latte. Love visiting new coffee shops!

Even though Kari and I have the type of relationship where you could veg on the couch all day and just chat, it was great to show her so many different neighborhoods and areas of the city. An incredible weekend and a wonderful start to the month of March.

Cheers.
