YLC Holiday Party.

Last night I attended the Young Leadership Council's Volunteer Appreciation & Holiday Party at the World War II Museum. Though I've been to the museum once before, it was for work and I was on a mission so I didn't take much time to take stock of my surroundings. And while I'd like to say I took advantage last night of a free tour, I sadly was more interested in the open bar, food samplers from John Besh, and mingling with friends, coworkers, and my co-RECreate volunteers. But the venue was still pretty sweet and I have to give kudos to one of my colleagues who helped plan the whole event. Several of us from the office went to support her and in many ways, it felt more like a work holiday party than the one we actually had AT work. Maybe because of the booze? Verdict is still out.

It was a great night out though and a good way to surround myself with a lot of people I care about and just enjoy a fun evening. Plus I met a few new folks and that's never a bad thing. The ever expanding circle! I'm grateful I got involved with YLC when I first moved down here. Though I'm not an official dues paying member and not sure I want to become one, it's an organization I've been proud to support through volunteering this past year.

Tomorrow marks our last day of work for the year. I'm looking forward to the almost two weeks off and though I'm not entirely sure how I'll be spending the winter recess, I'm grateful for the time off to breathe, celebrate the holidays, and prepare for the chaos that my job often brings in the spring. Hopefully I can do some early "spring" cleaning, spend time with friends and family, and maybe binge watch a series. Any recommendations?

Cheers.
