So You Think You Can Tour

I'm not ashamed to admit that I've been eagerly awaiting this weekend for the So You Think You Can Dance tour. Not only were the top 7 from season 7 plus some all stars from seasons 2-6 traveling around the country, but they were coming to St. Louis. And to the arena on campus no less! Epic news! My friend from graduate school and her mom even flew up from Houston for the weekend to explore the city and join me in checking out the performances.

I've been a HUGE fan of the show since season 2 and eagerly look forward each summer to a new crop of dancers showing off their talent. Season 7 was a bit different than the previous ones showcasing only the top 10 (5 males and 5 females) versus the previous seasons' top 20 (10 males and 10 females). Instead season 7 brought back some of the best and most talented dancers from the previous 6 seasons to join the new group. After an exciting summer with amazing routines, I couldn't wait to see the show live. And the tour did not disappoint. With some new group routines, amazing solos by season 7 runner-up Kent, season 7 winner Lauren and season 6 winner Russell, and some of the most memorable Travis Wall, Stacey Tookey, and NappyTab choreographed pieces, the tour proved to be better than the season 5 tour I saw last fall.

Here's hoping it was enough to tide me over until next summer when season 8 hits Fox. I'll be curious to see whether they return to the old format or continue with the All Stars (I'm betting old format) and whether Mia Michaels returns as a permanent judge or is replaced by Mary Murphy who took a hiatus this past year.

Since youtube is being stupid and won't let me embed some of my favorites from this season, I'll list them below and encourage you if you're bored to check them out. All were performed last night except for the first one (Alex was injured in the show).

1. "Outta Your Mind"-Twitch and Alex
2. "Fallin'"-Adechike and Comfort
3. "Fix You"-Allison and Robert
4. "How it Ends" -Kent and Neil
5. "Mad World" -Ade and Billy

Honorable Mention: "Heaven is a Place on Earth"-Robert and Kathryn

Cheers.
