Tis the season for Christmas parties...

This week has been chock full of holiday parties in anticipation of Christmas being next week (that's right, NEXT WEEK). Hello, December, how nice to see you come and go so quickly! Wasn't it just Thanksgiving? Or better yet, wasn't it just October 1? Ay de mi.

The lineup of events this week has kept me not only busy, but also full of holiday cheer and spirits. (It doesn't hurt that A Charlie Brown Christmas is on right now as well!) It all began Tuesday night with the student staff party organized by a few of the hall coordinators. While the karaoke was a bust and the cider didn't warm, the cookie decorating, egg nog, and festive holiday attire contest were all pretty epic. Sadly, I couldn't participate in the contest that challenged students to think beyond the usual "ugly Christmas sweaters" (in high demand this time of year) and be bold. If I weren't a judge, I probably would have won for this little number:

What am I wearing you might ask? Oh, it's only a felted Christmas tree complete with felted lights and a giant gold star made of felt. I found this gem at the thrift store for only $2 (WHAT A STEAL) and though it's original purpose is still unknown, with some minor crafting (like opening up the bottom, creating arms, and cutting out a whole for my face), it made THE. PERFECT. OUTFIT. I had one student ask if he could buy it from me and others tell me hands down I was THE costume of the evening. You're welcome folks.

Last night we had our department holiday party at a nearby restaurant called, SqWires. It was pretty low key (for us) but a nice gathering. Tonight we had the divisional holiday party on campus and with free booze and food, quite a nice time was had by all. Tonight's party also featured a contest for best costume but I opted NOT to sport the tree in front of the 50+ colleagues in the division. It would have been a crowd pleaser no doubt but I don't know too many of these people all THAT well yet. Tomorrow, a coworker and her husband are having a holiday party for their respective coworkers and Saturday night, a few of us are getting together for a dinner/gift exchange.

5 nights. 5 parties. Come Sunday, I'll most likely be partied-out, in need of a serious detox trip to the gym, and pooped! Happy Holidays!!

Cheers.
