Wonderful Weekend

This past weekend proved to be one of the best in quite a while. I love my down time (don't get me wrong) but I hate having no plans for an entire weekend. Especially when it's cold outside. The thought of spending an entire weekend with myself in my apartment gives me the willies and the frights. So I was pleased that I had a pretty full weekend lined up.

Friday night I ventured out to SqWires (in Lafayette Square-one of the cutest areas in STL I've decided) for dinner and drinks with some coworkers/friends to celebrate one coworker's last day and imminent move down to Memphis! I'm so excited for her. Later that evening, a group of us went to see "Love & other Drugs" starring Jake and Anne. I really enjoyed the film's mix of comedy, romance, and drama. And the fact that the two costars (who are easy on the eyes) were undressed as much, if not more, than they were dressed in the film didn't hurt either. Definitely a film I'd recommend seeing (both in theatres and on Netflix).

Saturday I spent the day with some friends making a Christmas present for one friend, grabbing lunch and hitting up various thrift stores in town to find "festive holiday attires" for the Holiday Party next week. I walked away with an epic find-a 4 foot (ish) felt Christmas tree that I am going to make into a costume and wear. SCORE! Saturday night I went to my second a cappella concert of the semester featuring the men's a cappella group. They are a pretty talented bunch and nailed "I believe I can fly" and "I get by with a little help from my friends." A great show! I dashed out after the concert to meet some friends at the Zoo in Forest Park to catch the Christmas lights display.

Aren't we a cute bunch? (Note: we took the photo ourselves.) We capped off the evening with a late dinner.

Sunday, I allowed myself to sit around all day watching movies, wrapping gifts, and e-shopping on Etsy.com (BEST.SITE.EVER. I buy everything there these days...) A friend came over Sunday night where we shared a bottle of wine and watched the second "Sex and the City" movie. It got pretty stank reviews and I have to admit, the critics were right. The movie was a dud. Entertaining, but definitely not the quality and entertainment factor of the first. It was fun to watch but I would have been ticked if I had seen it in theaters.

All in all, an amazing weekend. I'm glad I got to spend time with so many friends, especially the one above in the red coat who has become very near and dear to my heart. She is moving to El Salvador in January and I'm trying to soak up as much time with her as I can before she leaves. She's pretty darn amazing.

Cheers.
