GO GREEK!

I spent the weekend with some amazing staff, grad students, and Greek leaders working the Greek leadership retreat. We were asked as facilitators to dust off our letters and wear them to the retreat. Sadly, I only had about 3 shirts in my possession with my letters on them. One was inappropriate, one was a Christmas shirt, and the other I've worn so much over the years (the rush shirt I designed when I was Rush Chair) that the color has faded from red to pink and the image has almost washed off. So I didn't rep my letters at all over the weekend and wondered whether I should be sad that I don't have more current fraternity wear (I'm not. I've grown past that stage).

But in any event, I had the chance to work with a senior who is AMAZING and also from my hometown to lead a small group all weekend of newly appointed Greek leaders who are either leaders in their chapters or in IFC and Panhel. We talked about values, building community, overcoming obstacles, dealing with apathy, living the ritual, goal setting, affirmation, and Greek love!

By the time Sunday afternoon rolled around, I was pooped. But I couldn't have been happier that I was asked to participate in the weekend. I shared with my small group the challenge of balancing being Greek and gay and hopefully taught them something about respecting their fellow brothers and sisters. I bonded with staff members I've been wanting to get to know better since I began my job here and got to meet some incredible students I didn't know. All in all, the weekend was a HUGE success.

Brings back many memories of the glory days of Kappa Sigma!

Cheers.
