NOLA wedding weekend

After returning back to STL in the new year from the long winter break, I was here for just a few short days before catching a flight back to NOLA on Friday for the wedding of a childhood friend. She and her fiance (now husband) live in Germany where she only recently moved to be with him. It was wonderful to have them back in the states for the weekend and incredibly fun to show his German family and groomsmen how we New Orleanians like to get down!

The rehearsal dinner was held Friday night downtown at the Bourbon House and with the cheers of the Tigers fans in the background, we had a delicious meal and celebrated with endless bottles of wine. I got to sit with and catch up with two of my oldest girl friends I've known since I was a young lad. After the rehearsal dinner, we were all invited back to a suite on Bourbon street with a balcony on the second floor overlooking Bourbon. We hung out on the balcony, threw some mardi gras beads, and taught the German man the way of the flash (as in, SHOW ME SOMETHING MISTER!) Sadly, the groom's younger sister (11ish?) got flashed by her first set of boobs and poor little girl, she was shocked and didn't know what to do!

The wedding Saturday night was beautiful! Despite the wedding falling as the exact same time as the Saints game, I was honored to be among the attendants, bring up the gifts, and admire how beautiful the bride and her dress were. Simply stunning. The reception was back at the hotel on Bourbon and featured an amazing band, an array of bomb.com food, and delicious German and American wedding cake. The reception ended relatively early which the adults loved because they headed out and the younger crowd headed back up to the balcony for more beads, booze, and Bourbon fun. The Germans, now well aware of the lengths women will go to get beads, demanded nudity for any beads. And well folks, they got PLENTY OF IT. Every time I was out there, I saw women showing their goods. Some even 4-5 times. Insane!

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend. I wish I had some photos to post but I didn't take any and have to wait for others to throw them up! Aside from being stuck in New Orleans an extra day due to weather and getting back to STL later than planned, I loved reconnecting with old friends throughout the wedding and helping one of my oldest friends celebrate her special day.

Cheers.
