Boyball!
I'm stoked. I purchased my ticket to Atlanta/Athens last month but today, I officially allowed myself to get excited about next weekend when I head back to the old stomping ground to re-connect with grad school friends and give my love to a small college town I fell in love with two years ago!
I'm returning to Athens not only to see friends and wish the graduating folks all the best before they scatter around the country but to also attend my favorite event in Athens: Boyball! That's right! It's April meaning it's once again time for Boybutante! I attended my first Boyball back in April 2009 not knowing what to expect. In fact, I think I was a little reserved throughout the entire event. So what is Boyball? One GIANT gay party. I'm not even kidding. There's a huge drag show, a dance party, and two bars all in the name of raising money. All proceeds go to benefit AIDS Athens. I was amazed to see so many professionals I knew from work dressed in drag and didn't quite know what to call them!
Last year, I felt right at home. I had a blast attending the event last April and went all out! I remember waking up the morning after the event and thinking, they just don't make nights like that anymore! It was A-MAZING. So today as I went online and purchased my ticket for this year's event, I finally allowed the excitement to kick in! I cannot wait to touch down in Atlanta next Friday and celebrate the weekend with great friends helping to raise money for one uber important cause.
