The Bachelor(ette) Weekend

Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. A little slice of heaven. The home above, sleeping 15 and consisting of 4 levels, 5 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a game room, two living rooms, and a private hot tub and dock served as our home all weekend as we gathered to celebrate the McDutton Bachelor(ette) weekend. Since the bride AND groom are both mutual friends from grad school and several of the groomsmen and bridesmaids are already friends, the idea of doing a merged celebration over Memorial Day was perfect. And what an amazing weekend it turned out to be.

Though we did not have a boat, we spent the better part of the long weekend out on the dock soaking up the sun, drinking beers, and relaxing in the lake. The weather was PERFECT and the temperature in the water cool yet refreshing. We arrived Friday late afternoon and departed this morning and aside from a trip out to do a separate bachelor and bachelorette dinner Saturday night, we didn't leave the house. That was A-OK with me.

The highlights from the weekend? Meeting several of the McDutton's friends including Shane, Eric, Erin, and Mike & Melinda. By the end of the weekend, these new friends felt like old pals. We laughed hysterically together and bonded. Playing frisbee with Sam and Steve on the lawn. Sitting by the bonfire. Seeing a Whistle pig! Games, games, and more games. Eating dinner on the deck. Jumping in the lake. And the list goes on...

Me, Daph, Sam, Steve, Caleb, Kevin

I am incredibly blessed to have such wonderful friends from graduate school. And I couldn't think of a better way to spend the Memorial Day weekend than with old and new friends doing absolutely nothing and just being in the moment(s). Love.

Cheers.
