INSANTIY & Cinco de Mayo

I've decided to go where no sane person has gone before, to the world of the INSANITY work out program. A friend of mine told me on the fly a few weeks back that she was going to order the DVD series and was I interested in partaking in the 60-day regime. Sure, I said, why not? Perhaps it's because I am a glutton for punishment. Or perhaps because I have grown tired of my usual lifting cycle in the gym. Either way, another friend jumped on board as well and we kicked off the program yesterday with the FIT TEST. Though it was only 20 minutes, it wrecked me. Although not as badly as today's 45-minute cardio circuit. I am pretty certain every muscle in my body is sore (or will be tomorrow), ouch!

But I am excited for the challenge. And excited to have two friends doing it with me every day. We are committed to it and I am looking forward to seeing if there's any difference in the Before & After photos. (We took the Before yesterday). I'll keep you posted! One friend is doing it to lose weight, another to improve her cardio and I'm doing it to get toner and strengthen my core.

Other highlights of the Cinco de Mayo weekend included an attempt to eat downtown at Rosalita's Cantina last night. The street was blocked off for a block party with a band and a crowd unlike any I've encountered in some time. We found out the wait time at the restaurant was 5 hours. Yes, FIVE HOURS. And it was already creeping on 8pm. So we ended up leaving the crowds and headed to Range, a classy burger place owned by the Bailey's franchise here in town I'd been wanting to try. Food was decent. I had the"Smoke & Fire" Burger: cilantro sour cream, cheddar cheese, fried jalapenos. Drinks were not as great (at least not the margarita). But I felt compelled to at least have something Mexican if we weren't dining at a Mexican restaurant.  But I can now cross it off my list! By the end of dinner, it was close to 10:30pm and we didn't have the energy to head back to the block party so we headed home. Boring folk I know.

Dinner with B&J Friday night at Cicero's, drinks and hookah on the porch, and a bike ride through Forest Park yesterday afternoon rounded out the weekend. Tonight there's an end of year banquet for student staff I need to attend and tomorrow marks the last full week of students being here! WOOT!

Cheers.
