Maifest

I am a big believer that the best festivals you attend are often the ones you stumble upon without planning. Like the Chiang Rai 150-year old celebration my sister and I just so happened to be in town for during our brief stint in Chiang Rai in Thailand. Or last night's Maifest at Urban Chestnut. A local brewing company near campus, Urban Chestnut has some pretty tasty beers and an environment that creates the perfect ambiance for drinking socially in a laid back setting with friends. Having not visited the nearby establishment in quite some time, I was looking forward to spending the evening sipping on some Winged Nut with friends.

Much to my surprise, when we rolled up Saturday night, we saw the parking lot filled with tables, corn hole, and a zydeco band playing in the courtyard. The occasion? Maifest. SWEET! A festival. LOVE. IT. So while the night looked bright with good beer and company, the night turned out even better with the sounds of zydeco and cajun music filling the cool, perfect air reminding me of home, of Jazz Fest, and of my family. Couldn't have asked for a better way to spend a Saturday evening.

The rest of the weekend shaped up nicely with some INSANITY, antique shopping, reading outside taking full advantage of the cooler temperatures while they last.

Cheers.
