Christmas Eve
'Twas the day before Christmas...
Though it doesn't quite feel like it with the weather a steamy 75 degrees outside. I guess that is something I will have to get re-acquainted with when I move back down south. No, I don't need a white Christmas to make me happy. But some cooler temperatures, a sweater, and a fire wouldn't be too much to ask for, would it?
It's been a busy last few days since I departed St. Louis on Friday. I'm grateful I got to kick my vacation off with a quick visit to Memphis to spend the evening with Dan. He greeted me with a Manhattan and I enjoyed visiting with him in his apartment, exchanging gifts, and catching up on life. We grabbed dinner Friday night at Local on Main, saw some other Memphis friends, and relaxed. We grabbed a quick breakfast at our usual spot Saturday morning before we both departed for the holidays. I don't think I could say enough how much I appreciate Dan, his friendship, and his constant presence in my life. He's one hell of a best friend and I owe much to him over the years.
Arriving to New Orleans late Saturday afternoon after spending 45 minutes in standstill traffic inside the city, I enjoyed dinner out with my parents and sister at ACME Oyster House before meeting up for an evening of drinks with Matt and Katie at Finn's. A visit to see a dear, old friend and her son on Sunday, a drop by at cousin Mark's, Cornish game hen for dinner, and blueberry mojitos with Matt and Katie at St. Joe's Sunday night rounded out the weekend.
Which brings us to today, Christmas Eve! We are headed to mass downtown before hosting the LeBlanc's for dinner. Stoked! Should be a wonderful evening. If only brother and sister-in-law were here. But I look forward to celebrating with them tomorrow when the whole family is reunited for the first time in 13 months!
Merry Christmas Eve everyone! May you be blessed!
Cheers.
