NOLA Christmas

It's been a busy, few days with Christmas and a 48-hour trip to Pensacola Beach for a family reunion with my mom's side of the family. I've found that I have lost track of the days and each day awake to ask myself, "what day is it? Oh. Ok." And yet somehow I have come to the end of my vacation here at home. I depart tomorrow for St. Louis for my last tour of duty before returning to the Big Easy at the end of January for good. Big gulp!

So how was the break at home? Wonderful! We had just enough time Christmas Eve before Mass downtown to walk through The Roosevelt and check out the lights and decorations. A local favorite, the lobby was PACKED with people enjoying a beverage or snapping photos. It was difficult to try and take it all in without being bumped into or trying to avoid photo bombing someone else's "Christmas memory."

Dinner after Mass with the LeBlancs along with Christmas Day brunch at their house and a day spent with family at my aunt and uncle's home all topped off another wonderful Christmas. Plus, the gifts this year were terrific! New cologne, books, Cards Against Humanity, gift cards, cash, and some cookware made it a great year!

No rest for the weary after the holiday as we departed for Pensacola Beach for a two day visit with 22 of our family members in one large house on the beach! I enjoyed seeing everyone and spending the time walking on the beach, catching up with everyone, and feasting like a king.

We will celebrate my sister's 33rd birthday tonight with dinner as a family at a bistro on Magazine street we are all looking forward to checking out. It's been a good week and a wonderful #NOLAchristmas.

Cheers.
