Don we now our Christmas tree apparel....

The first snowfall of the season is upon us today. It's not expected to stick around for very long and it's turning into slush once it hits the ground but hey, snow is snow. And I'll take it. It's beginning to feel a lot more like Christmas. The weather outside is frightful, the fire(place) I don't have sounds delightful, and even though I have a place to go (home to NOLA tomorrow), I am excited to let it snow. As long as it goes away by tomorrow!

For those of you who keep up with my tweets and/or Facebook, I have already posted on social media about the last 24 hours but for those of you still in the dark, I offer this gem below:

It's my "ugly Christmas sweater" attire. I found it at a thrift store two years ago when I was with a buddy looking for an ugly Christmas sweater for a work event. It was in the "miscellaneous" section  and was designed to sit on a pole and look like a Christmas tree. The front and back, 100% wool/felted Christmas tree has red ribbon hot glued on with fake lights and a stuffed star at the top. When I saw it, it was love at first sight and I knew I could enlarge the small hole at the base of the tree, cut some holes for arms, a hole for a face, and wear it! EPIC FIND! I spent less than $5.00 on it and it's been a crowd favorite ever since.

I wore it to our work divisional Christmas party yesterday (the first time I had worn it to that occasion) and won first place in the ugly Christmas sweater contest! Everyone was raving about it and loving it and I enjoyed being the highlight of the event. Me? Attention seeking? Never!

I donned it again last night to our Cornhole game where the best dressed team won free alcohol. And wouldn't you know!? WE WON! I'd like to think the Christmas tree helped out! We may not be too stellar in throwing bean bags but we sure know how to bring the fun!

Team "Maized and Cornfused"

All in all, it ended up being a day full of laughter and enjoyment. How often is it that you get to dress up and make a fool of yourself at both work and in social settings? I had suggestions from both friends and strangers that I should take the outfit up a notch next year by adding a tree skirt below or perhaps wrapping some boxes and placing them around my waist. Both good ideas! For now, the tree is headed to Iowa with Luke in the hopes it can impress his family for their own themed party.

The Odd Quad.

Happy Holidays! Cheers.
