iRun
The half marathon is quickly approaching (circa 2 weeks folks) and as I continue to train and knock out 10-12 mile runs, I've found that I need motivation to make me run. And with that in mind, I've started to generate a list of things I'm currently running for. Some are happy and some are sad but I thought they were worth sharing on this Easter Sunday evening.
iRun for...
1. my professor, Dr. E, who is 34 years old and battling breast cancer. She shouldn't have to face it but she's fighting it with termination and resilience and I believe she will emerge victorious.
2. my sister who will soon embark on a new adventure to a new continent that I've always dreamed of visiting (Australia!) I don't know what's in store for her but I'm excited for her.
3. my friend LB who got engaged this weekend to a wonderful guy. I had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with them over Spring Break and couldn't be happier for them.
4. my whod, Red, whose father passed away this morning from a heart attack. My heart aches for her and I hope God gives her the strength and support she needs during this time.
5. my friends who will be graduating in less than a month and moving all over the country to work in Student Affairs. They've been a godsend to me this year and it's hard to imagine life here in Athens without them.
6. my family whom I have not seen since Christmas and most likely will not see before August. It's the longest I've ever gone without seeing them and though I'm not a homebody, I miss them and look forward to our trip to Trillium in August.
7. the fight to combat injustice, to stand up and speak out against inequality in the hopes that we may all have a better tomorrow.
8. me. Because I never thought I would run a half-marathon and definitely never thought I could. I set a goal and I look forward to accomplishing it on Saturday, April 25.
Cheers.
