Dancing with the Angels
I love to dance. I *think* everyone knows that. I'm obsessed with dance movies (even the bad ones like Step Up 2: The Streets) and usually rally around big dance shows (especially So You Think You Can Dance...my all time favorite dance show). I love a wedding reception more for the dancing than the alcohol and it's one of the things I miss the most about undergrad, the formals.
So it's with that in mind that I truly believe that heaven will be one big dance party. As a Catholic, I fully believe in the resurrection and though I'm not counting down the days until I depart this place, I am excited about what's waiting for me in the next. I know folks who don't believe in an afterlife and who think heaven is just a bunch of bologna. But for me, I think it's one big dance party. And folks are dancing like they've never danced before. Not in the, "hey, I want to impress a hot guy or girl" kinda way or the "let's get it on" kinda way but more like, the "I'm filled with so much joy I just gotta let it out" kinda way.
Monk and Neagle have this song called, Dancing with the Angels, and I've been singing it in my head all day. I went to a funeral this morning to be a source of support for my friend, Red, whose father passed away on Easter Sunday. I cannot even begin to imagine what she and her family are going through but it was a wonderful service and everyone spoke so incredibly highly of her father that I wish I knew him. He sounds like one amazing individual. Over and over, he was mentioned as a man with great spirit and gusto and I picture him dancing up in heaven right now. He's probably even showing the angels a thing or two...
So in honor of my friend Red and to let her know I'm thinking about her...here's to her...
Cheers.
