"lead with integrity."
It's been over a week since my last post. It's been an incredibly busy past week and also, a pretty uneventful one to post about. We finished up final exams on Cinco de Mayo, celebrated four birthdays within the cohort, and said goodbye to the class of 2009 as they graduated yesterday. I'm now officially a "second year" or a junior (college years speaking) as we like to say in this program that each semester is the equivalent to a year of undergrad. It's both exciting and mind-boggling.
I've also been putting in a number of hours in the office to prepare for the LeaderShape Institute. I leave today to serve as the On-Site Coordinator for the six day intensive, leadership development retreat/summer camp which is held right outside Atlanta. I'll be managing the program logistics for the entire week assisting the two Lead Facilitators, the Cluster Facilitators, and the 46 UGA students who will be participating in the week-long program.
I don't know much about LeaderShape other than it's supposedly one of the best programs under the sun and having it on your resume includes you in some elite group. So for whatever that's worth, yay!
The motto for LeaderShape is "lead with integrity" and over the course of the week, the participants develop "visions" for how they wish to better the world and their communities. The hope is that the the participants will return from LeaderShape and work toward bringing their vision to reality.
I get back Saturday afternoon from the program and begin my internship at Gainesville State College on Monday! No rest for the weary! Summer has officially begun and the summer of 2009 promises to be one of my busiest ever. But I'm looking forward to it!
Cheers.
