Memorial Day Weekend
It's Monday morning, Memorial Day, and of course, it's still raining here in Athens, GA. I was holding the door one morning (circa 10 days ago) for this little old lady and as she walked past and out of the pouring rain, I commented on the weather. She said, but we sure did need the rain, to which I replied, no, no we didn't. It has rained here on and off every single day for about 20 days now and I'm ready for it to go away...But I digress.
Dan came into town this weekend for an action-packed, fun-filled, extended weekend. Saturday, we visited the Terrapin Brewery here in town and for $8, received a pint glass, 8 tickets, and a free tour of the place. Each ticket is good for about a 5-6 oz. pour so it is definitely well-worth the money and you have an opportunity to try several different Terrapin beers. Afterward, we grabbed some dinner at Loc
os before heading over to The Globe and Highwire for drinks.
We woke up Sunday and walked down to Mama's Boy for breakfast. It's been a while and I forgot how excellent their morning breakfast is. I was hoping we could go kayaking but thanks to the weather, no go. Instead, we hit up the outlets followed by Angels and Demons. That movie is a PERFECT reason why I don't listen to critics. It didn't fare well under the microscope of the critics yet I found it to be enjoyable, entertaining, and better than DaVinci Code. I have read the book but it's been a long time so I don't remember how the film differs from the book but for $6.50, well worth it. Afterward, we went to dinner at The Grit and got drinks at Trappeze.
We're off this morning to buy some Jittery Joe's coffee and eggs to make omelets. Should be an awesome breakfast before Dan hits the road. All in all, it's been a solidly good weekend and definitely a great visit. Cheers.
