The Next Chapter

I started my internship today at Gainesville State College (home of the goose, yes, that is their mascot). I spent the afternoon on their satellite campus in Oconee (about 15 minutes from Athens versus the hour away main campus) and witnessed their first SOAR session (Summer Orientation, Advising, and Registration).

It was an Orientation session unlike any I've ever experienced. The program is geared toward getting students registered for fall classes with a few tidbits about GSC but no dances, songs, or insanely giddy Orientation leaders bouncing off the walls. But it was a great experience to see how a community college handles welcoming students into their community.

I begin tomorrow at the main campus where I will spend the next 10 weeks working in the Office of Student Life with their SOAR Orientation leaders. I'm looking forward to the experience and though I'm not psyched about the hour commute each way, it will give me more time to reflect and enjoy some good tunes.

Have a great week! Cheers.

Oh Brad, the commute will be fine :) You'll be surpised how much time you either spend reflecting, or catching up on the phone with friends. It can be quite useful! See you later on today!
