Simple pleasures.

I have decided there are two things that will help keep me grounded, happy, and sane over the course of my second year. Red wine. and Sabra hummus. As long as both are stocked in my kitchen, I'm good to go...

I've been meaning to post a lot this past week but life had other plans...I have firm updates on the car situation. I spoke back and forth with the student who hit me last week before finally speaking to his dad last Friday. Doing my part, I went and had two estimates done around town (ranging from $1000-1500), took photos and emailed those to the dad, and faxed the two estimates to a body shop the dad wanted to have take a look at them. All of that took place by Friday at noon. Haven't heard back from the dad yet. Called him this afternoon leaving a message that I was really hoping to move forward and expedite this process and hoped to hear from him soon.

I have something going on with my right eye. It's unhappy. It's not a scratched cornea and it's not pink eye but it is irritated. I was going to go to the optometrist today but thought it had gotten better so I canceled. I took out my contacts about an hour ago and my right eye is pink as the day is long (Did I just use that properly??) So I gotta do something about that.

Classes are up and running and going really well. Demanding, sure. Thought-provoking, you betcha. Impossible, nah. In a nutshell, I'm taking three courses this semester back-to-back, boom. boom. boom. Two on Monday and one on Tuesday.

"Houston, we have a problem" appropriately describes my first class which is geared toward conducting needs assessments and planning program interventions. "Can't we all just get along?" is my second class of the day aimed at studying social justice, oppression, privilege, and all those other comfortable, fun words which result in a call to action geared toward active citizenship. And finally, my class on Tuesdays might as well be a new show on HDtv. We'll call it, "Design Star: University Edition." We examine campus environments, architecture, space, layout, and design and try to understand how all of the above impact students and promote or hinder student success.

I think that's enough for today. Time to put away the hummus and move on to a more balanced dinner menu.

Cheers.
