White Water.

I have to give props to Todd, the photographer from today's Section IV Chattooga River White Water trip, for the photo above. This was the first rapid of the day, a get-you-started-psyched-up-ready-for-action-and-adventure rapid that definitely got me excited. and WET. This shot is amazing and so much better when it's enlarged. My favorite thing about this photo is the look of sheer terror and horror on Katie's face as she holds on for dear life wondering if she'll survive the day. About 2 seconds (and that's being generous) after this photo was snapped, my brother lost his hold and came tumbling to the left side of the raft hitting me full force with his weight and knocking both of us completely out of the raft and into the rushing water. We were those people. The "experienced, I've rafted before, know what I'm doing" people who fell out of the raft on the first rapid.

That first tumble aside, today's trip with Southeastern Expeditions was awesome. The guides were a lot of fun, the water was refreshing, the scenery was gorgeous, and we had a great time navigating down the river. It didn't hurt that Todd, the photographer and one of the guides were pretty darn attractive.

The trip down the Chattooga concluded my brief but restful vacation with my family. We rented a home overlooking Lake Trillium and we couldn't have been more spoiled. We feasted like kings, went tubing and skiing one afternoon on the lake and I was able to finish The Shack (a whole 'nother post to come on that book later) while reclining on the most comfortable sofa known to man overlooking the lake. I loved being outside on the deck and just enjoying the peace and quiet. I am jealous that the family is there through the week and that I could only be with them for a few days but so grateful for that time together.

Back to the grindstone tomorrow for training. Things are back in full swing. But I head into tomorrow refreshed and re-energized. And with a bruise...Thanks Jeff.
