Spring Sping 2010.

If you follow me on Twitter, you probably wanted to scream, ENOUGH with the tweets about Spring Sing last night! But I couldn't help myself. It was that good.

Now in it's second year, Spring Sing is a weekend long a'cappella festival to raise money for cancer research in honor of the Burns family who lost two immediate family members to colon and lung cancer in the span of six months less than two years ago. The event features workshops throughout the weekend, a silent auction, and an a'cappella competition which I attended last night. For only $15, I got to listen to 4 hours of some of the best talent I've heard in a long time. I was always a big fan of the Woolsocks and Lipstick on your Collar at Rhodes but listening to some of these collegiate groups from around the Southeast, I was amazed at the talent! The event featured groups from Georgia Tech, James Madison University, Florida State, and UGA. The majority of the groups were all female though one was co-ed and one was all male. From Lady Gaga montages and mash-ups to the Beatles, Beyonce, RadioHead, and Journey, the students rocked my face off. The UGA Accidentals ( all male group) blew me away with their talent. Incredible.

Aside from the collegiate groups, the show also featured some professional a'cappella groups including Business as Usual, Duwende, Almost Recess and Blue Jupiter. The lead female vocalist from Blue Jupiter is also the voice of McDonald's commercials and the MTV voice. It was really funny to hear her do the ads last night. The show concluded with a performance by Ahmir, a male contemporary R&B group that have blown up on YouTube. They cover a lot of famous songs including an amazing rendition of Miley Cyrus' The Climb. Check it out below.

Amazing night! So thankful to have had the opportunity to donate to Team Burns in the fight against cancer and to listen to some incredible talent.

Cheers.
