Cleaning out the Closet

My (most recent) roommate Kev has his theory about "baggy shirt" guys. It's like his gaydar. If a guy is wearing a fitted shirt, there's a greater chance he's gay. If he's wearing a baggy shirt, there's a greater chance he isn't, or in the least, doesn't know how to dress himself. He told me of this theory last February when a guy interviewed for our program and several of us wondered whose team he batted for. Kev said he batted for the other team because he wore a baggy shirt to the interview. Turns out, Kev was right.

It got me to thinking about my own wardrobe and how fitted my clothes are. I've never been one to want to wear skin tight clothing but at the same time, I've never wanted to wear a sheet around my body either. When I worked professionally before grad school, I bought a handful of dress slacks and dress shirts to spruce up my Monday-Friday apparel. I'm not quite sure if I lost a lot of weight in grad school, simply toned up more, or gained some sense. I think it's a combo of all three. Nonetheless, I found myself today going through my closet and finding that all of my dress slacks are too big and that a lot of my dress shirts are too baggy. It was quite depressing. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do about this at the present moment as I'm unemployed but once I gain that new job and find out whether I'm expected to go more suits or more business casual, I think I'm going to have a make an investment and purchase some new things. A handful of new slacks and new shirts. Otherwise, I'll look like MC Hammer in some balloon pants and blimpy shirts.

Not cute. No siree. Cheers.
