Oysters.

There's a nasty oil spill in the Gulf. Said nasty oil spill isn't showing many signs of going away and there's a new fear in the city of New Orleans that it may mean the demise of some amazing seafood for a while until things get back to normal. Couple that with Drew Brees saying in Parade magazine which came out on Sunday that he loves Drago's charboiled raw oysters and voila! you have a recipe for a mad dash to Drago's to have some oysters!

Which is exactly what we did last night. I went with a buddy of mine and his family to Drago's where we feasted on 3.5 dozen of the best oysters I've had in quite some time. I was texting a friend who stuck his nose up and said he hated seafood and my response was, child, you need to drive down to new orleans so I can teach you better. One taste of those oysters and I have a feeling he would have changed his tune. They were a perfect appetizer (yes, 3.5 dozen were an appetizer) to a steak dinner my friend's parents cooked last night. Add some wine to the mix and you make for a wonderful evening catching up with a buddy I've known for about 20 years now who is heading back to Indiana where he is pursuing his PhD today and spending the summer in Spain.

The oysters were my first real meal back in the city and made me forget how much I LOVE the food here. I've been hoping to put on 5-10 pounds and if I keep eating this food, I'll definitely reach my goal.

Cheers.
